Hello and welcome to Enfield Mental
Health Carers we are here to help you if you live in Enfield and are caring
for a friend or relative with mental ill health.
It has been
identified that carers play a very crucial and positive role in helping
the person they care for manage their condition, they deal with crises,
acute distress and sometimes difficult behaviour, as well as the long
term effects of mental illness such as depression, boredom and social
isolation. It is evident that a healthy and well supported carer can
have a dramatic and positive impact on the life of the person being
diagnosed with mental illness, whereas a stressed and poorly supported
carer can struggle for years to support their relatives while their own
health deteriorates with the passing of time.
At times carers feel
frustrated that they are not being offered enough help from services. A
particular area of concern can be when the person you are supporting
does not agree that they need help, yet they behave in a way that may
cause problems to themselves and you.
We aim to help you continue caring efficiently and
with as little stress as possible. We offer support, advice, information, advocacy,
befriending, respite and training to unpaid Mental Health Carers in
Enfield. If you need someone to talk to or are involved in a crisis,
call us and speak to someone who understands the difficulties that may
accompany caring for someone with mental health difficulties.
